Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Lucie Baker was raised in Seattle, Washington and studied dance from a young age at Pacific Northwest Ballet and later at Cornish College of the Arts Preparatory Dance Division. Ms. Baker moved to New York to study dance at the Juilliard School earning her BFA in 2008. Since graduating she has performed with a number of companies including Jane Comfort and Company, Tamar Rogoff Performance Projects, Erica Essner Performance Co-Op, Bennyroyce Dance Productions, Yara Travieso, Sidra Bell Dance New York, Adam Barruch Dance, CreativeOtis and ARC Dance. Ms. Baker also grew up studying folk and social dance at Lady of the Lake Dance Camp and with Vela Luka Croatian Dance Ensemble. Her choreography has been performed both domestically in New York, Seattle and New Orleans and internationally in Spain, Peru and Germany. Most recently, she produced, choreographed and performed in an evening length split bill performance, Project RUIN. Project RUIN premiered in October of 2012 as a collaboration with Carlye Eckert at Center for Performance Research in Brooklyn. Ms. Baker is also committed to community building and educational outreach through the arts as a volunteer with Artists Striving To End Poverty (A.S.T.E.P.) and current faculty member at the Chen Dance Center in New York City. She is certified in Pilates Mat Training from the Kane School at Kinected in New York.
