Artist as Teacher
_Teaching is an important part of my practice as an artist. While
studying at Juilliard I started volunteering as an arts outreach educator and had a wide range of experiences. I performed in prisons and hospitals, taught workshops to children, septuagenarians and everything in between. The majority of my work has been with Artists Striving to
End Poverty with whom I have maintained a relationship with since 2005. I also teach in formal dance schools and currently, I
am on faculty at the Chen Dance Center in Chinatown teaching 5 - 9
years olds Pre-ballet, Ballet and Modern dance. I have recently become a certified Pilates mat instructor through the Kane School and I look forward to adding that method of moving to my tool belt. I enjoy sharing my art with
every level of dancer in every possible venue, young and old, amateur and veteran. It is a great inspiration for me to see others discover the potential of their own bodies as expressive instruments. If you are interested in working with me privately as a Pilates teacher or a dance teacher please email me at luciebaker@gmail.com.

A review of some of the projects I was a part of in 2008 when I taught in Homestead, Florida for the second time and in South Africa. Good times! I look forward to more in the future. Learn more about ASTEP here.
